When Karel decided to seek professional help, it wasn't easy. Admitting the problem, especially after years of hiding it, was one of the hardest steps of his life.
With the support of loved ones and after an urgent appeal from his friend, he decided to start treatment at the NEO Center .
During the course of treatment, Karel learned something he hadn't allowed himself to do for a long time - to talk openly about his emotions, name his fears, and realize the deep roots of his addiction. Therapy revealed how his life was profoundly affected by his troubled childhood relationships, the loss of his mother, and his persistent inner sense of inadequacy.
From the alcoholic haze in which he tried to forget the pain, he gradually emerged into the world of sobriety, where he began to build new foundations – authenticity, responsibility, humility, and the ability to live in the present moment.
Today, Karel has been sober for two years. He talks openly about how he took his life back – not only did he mend his family relationships, but most importantly, he found himself again.
With great gratitude, he regularly attends open groups and individual sessions so as not to lose the humility he discovered during his treatment at the NEO Center.
His story shows that the path out of addiction is possible. That change begins with honesty with oneself and a willingness to accept help. And that sobriety is not a loss – but a return to a full, authentic life.
