Psychiatry
Psychiatric care is an important part of working with mental health. It is not just about solving acute problems, but about a long-term understanding of what is happening within a person - on the level of the psyche, the body and the life context.
At NEO Center, we see psychiatry as one of the pillars of comprehensive care. We do not separate it from psychotherapy or lifestyle, but we connect it with them so that care makes sense as a whole.
01
When does psychiatric care make sense?
Seeking a psychiatrist is not a sign of failure. On the contrary, it is often a step that can bring greater stability and allow for further work on yourself.
Psychiatric care may be appropriate, for example, when:
- you experience anxiety, tension or a drop in mood for a long time
- you are struggling with exhaustion, insomnia, or loss of energy
- you experience strong emotional swings or loss of control over your behavior
- problems associated with addiction appear
- you feel that psychotherapy alone is not enough
Psychiatry deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental disorders and works with how they are reflected in thinking, emotions and behaviour.
02
How psychiatric care is provided
The basis is a professional psychiatric examination, which includes an interview, mapping of difficulties and their development over time. An important part is also understanding the broader context - relationships, life situation and physical health.
If necessary, the psychiatrist supplements the information with diagnostic tools or may indicate a clinical-psychological examination, which helps to more precisely understand the nature of the difficulties and choose the appropriate course of care. Psychodiagnostic methods (e.g. standardized tests and questionnaires) allow for a more structured and objective view of a person's experiences and functioning.
Based on this, we jointly look for further action. This may include:
- recommendation of psychotherapy or its modification
- working with regime and lifestyle
- possibly pharmacological treatment
Medication can be a supportive tool in some situations, helping to stabilize the condition and creating space for further therapeutic work. We do not see it as the only solution, but as one of the options.
03
Connection with therapy and a holistic approach
At NEO Center, we are based on the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual model. This means that we do not perceive psychological difficulties in isolation, but in the context of a person's entire life.
Therefore, psychiatry is not a separate service in our country. It is part of a broader process that may include:
- individual, group or family and couples psychotherapy
- working with the body and emotions
- promoting a healthy lifestyle
- complementary activities, such as exercise or relaxation
Family and couples psychotherapy works with relationships and communication between close people and helps to understand how an individual's difficulties are reflected in a wider system of relationships.
The goal is not to "quickly eliminate difficulties", but to gradually find greater balance and functionality in everyday life.
04
Collaboration and continuity
Psychiatric care makes sense when it is built on collaboration. The relationship between client and professional, open communication, and respect for individual needs are important.
Change in mental health does not usually happen all at once. It is a process that develops over time and can have different dynamics.
We can accompany you in this process.
